Description
API Carvers are double-ended surgical instrument used to place, carve, and contour dental wxes and amalgam. It is a part of standard restorative procedures used to cut and shape dental wax during large fillings. It removes excess material from the restorative area and gives the restoration or waxes a proper and tidy shape.
These double side instrument blends the benefit of a wax carver and a wax sculpting hand instrument. One side is used for denture wax adding, carving. The other side is used to remove the excess wax and also to create festooning.
It is used to carve wax patterns, generally a blunt blade of varying size and shape, which can be heated for softening the wax while fashioning the pattern.
It also removes excess material, contour surfaces, and carve anatomy back into amalgam or intermediate restoration before it hardens.
